Vito F. Bovalino Obituary (1928

Vito (Vic) Francis Bovalino, a lifelong resident of Beaver Falls, died on Sunday June 25, 2017 at the age of 89. Vito was born on February 6, 1928 in Beaver Falls to Rocco Bovalino Sr. and Carmella (Yaria) Bovalino. Vito served in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Corporal and graduated from Fairmont State University in West Virginia. Vito taught Art at New Brighton Middle School. Vito was an active member of his community. He managed the Heinrich Memorial Swimming Pool for 6 years, served as president of the Beaver Falls Recreation Department, and coached little league baseball, midget football and basketball (Basketeers). Vito was a member of the Beaver Falls Municipal Authority where he was involved in a variety of projects including the hydro-electric plant operations. Vito served as both Vice President and President of the Beaver Falls School Board. During his tenure with the board he was a member of the committee that supervised the construction of the current Beaver Falls High School. Vito served as President of the Beaver County Community College Board of Trustees and was a member of the committee that presided over the college's library construction. Vito was treasurer of the New Brighton Education Association and served on the Beaver Falls Mayor's Advisory Board. In addition to his many civic contributions, Vito was a member of the American Legion, B.P.O Elks, Sigma Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and Newman's Club. Vito was a loving father and dedicated friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Vito will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, easy smile, and genuine appreciation for the simple things in life. Vito is survived by his children, Stacy Bovalino Weaver (Douglas), Powell, OH; Victor Bovalino (Jane), Chippewa; and Jeffery Bovalino, Big Beaver Borough; five grandchildren, Jacob and Sydney Weaver; Alexis and Victoria Bovalino; and Brittany Simpkins (Christopher), his former wife and dear friend Peggy Bovalino; beloved friend and companion Martha Frank, lifelong, dear friend Sue Gill, cherished niece Toni Hall and many other nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Vito was preceded in death by brothers, Joe (Peppi) Strati; Frank Bovalino; and Rocco Bovalino Jr., and sisters, Mary Regeldini and Rose Clinton. Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday July 5th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801-4th Avenue, College Hill, Beaver Falls, PA 15010). A brief prayer service will be held on Thursday July 6th at 9:20 A.M at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Monica's Parish, (116 Thorndale Drive, Beaver Falls, PA 15010). Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Chippewa Twp. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend a reception at Saint Monica's Founders Hall immediately following the burial. Members of B.P.O Elks #348 will conduct a service Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Member of the Veteran's Honor Guard will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 AM to provide military honors.
