Sherman L. Kirkland, Sr. Obituary (1941

Sherman L. Kirkland, Sr., 71, of Beaver Falls, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 in the Providence Care Center. Born Nov. 23, 1941 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Jackson and Amanda Singleton Kirkland Bullard. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Beaver Falls. He had retired from the Housekeeping Department of the Medical Center Beaver. He served his country several times, in the U.S. Marine Corps, The National Guard, and in the Air National Guard, 171st Air Refueling in Moon Township. He was a member of the Beaver Falls American Legion, Post 261. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Sherman L. Kirkland, Jr. in 2007, and a brother James Kirkland and a sister Violet Lee. He is survived by his wife Betty Morlan Kirkland, a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Leeanna Kirkland, two daughters and a son-in-law, Teena Robinson, Lonette and Todd Allen, all of Beaver Falls, five grandchildren, Cierra, Kayden, Bryce, Lonnette, and Aliyah, four brothers and their wives, Jackson and Vivian Kirkland, Rochester, Melvin and Hattie Jane Kirkland, Beaver Falls, Leonard and Sheila Kirkland, Seattle, WA, John "Chuckie" Kirkland, Beaver Falls, two sisters, Carmilla Harris, Youngstown, OH, Ethel Truss, and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Monday from 3 until 8 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church in Beaver Falls where the service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bernard Tench officiating. Private burial in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. The Beaver Falls American Legion will conduct a service on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church. The Veterans Honor Guard will meet at the church in Tuesday at noon to conduct full military honors.
