Raymond "Dutch" Elmore Weiss Obituary (1923

Raymond Elmore "Dutch" Weiss, 88, of Eastvale, died peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born May 4, 1923 in Eastvale, he was the son of the late John Frederick and Jessie Wilkinson Weiss. A 1942 graduate of Beaver Falls High School, he was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific during World War II. He was later employed by B&W, Koppel as a steelworker, retiring with 33 years of service. Dutch was a talented athlete. He was a fierce competitor on many local winning sports teams and later played semi-pro ball as a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals minor league team in Salisbury, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Knapp and Marlene Weiss, a brother-in-law, Joseph Knapp, and his former wife, Susan Weiss. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Debra Barr, a grandson, James Gorlick, two granddaughters, Jessie( Aaron) McCutcheon and Sarah Smith, five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Layne, Ethan, Dakota and Montana, all of whom reside in FL, four nieces and spouses, Kathleen Durham, Patricia (Don) Mullen, Beaver Falls, Linda(Tom) Moyer, Beaver, Pa, and Nancy (Eddie) Rodriguez, Houston, TX, a nephew, Ron (Lisa) Knapp, Gibsonia, PA, and many special cousins, friends and neighbors, including Nancy Grubb and family and John and Kay Vogel of Eastvale. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where a service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Donald MacNeil, Pastor, Church of the Nazarene in New Brighton, officiating. Entombment with full military rites by the Beaver County Special Unit will follow at the Sylvania Hills Mausoleum, Daugherty Township. The family would like to thank all of Dutch's caregivers, especially Drs. R. Shetty and S. Lancaster, for their compassionate care. Dutch will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who possessed great strength of character and integrity, and forever loved.
