Lumley F. Wilson Obituary (1919

Lumley F. Wilson, 95, of Chippewa, died on Friday, January 2, 2015 in the Beaver Valley Nursing & Rehab Center, South Beaver. Born September 29, 1919, in Mentor, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas F. Wilson and Anna Bash (Ashburn) Richardson. After graduating from Mentor High School and Case Institute of Technology, he was hired as the plant chemist at Armstrong Cork in Beaver Falls. There he met Betty Stacy and they were inseparable until her death in 1999, shortly after their 54th anniversary. Lum was only separated from Armstrong and Beaver Falls during his WWII service in the United States Navy as a submarine electronics instructor. Lum advanced through many positions at Armstrong including assistant plant manager and plant manager until his retirement in 1984. He was always very active in community work. He served as Director of the Beaver Valley United Fund, Beaver Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Beaver County Health and Welfare Council and United Commercial Travelers. He was on the boards of the American Red Cross of Beaver County and Geneva College Trustees. But he contributed most of his time and talents as lifetime member, president, and Paul Harris fellow of the Beaver Falls Rotary Club; honoree of the Beaver Falls Salvation Army for years of carpentry and toy drives; and servant in every possible capacity at First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Jack Boyle; a son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Christine Wilson; grandchildren Stacy Foley and her husband, Jack; Adam Boyle and his wife, Marie; Devon Boyle; Ryan Wilson and his fiancee, Kristie Bresz; Jamie Wilson and her fiance, Jason Barkman; Eric Wilson; and Lum's only great-grandchild, Vivian Foley. He is also survived by his dear sister- and brother-in-law, June (Stacy) Hill and Robert Stacy, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his his parents and wife, Lum was preceded in death by his sister, Celia (Wilson) Verbsky and eight sisters- and brothers-in-law. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where Lum's funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. His pastor, Chris Noyes, will officiate. Private entombment will follow at the Beaver Falls Williamsburg Mausoleum. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Beaver Valley Nursing & Rehab, Gateway Hospice, and Elmcroft Assisted Living, for the loving care and professional dedication shown to Lum over his last years.
