Lettie Mary Parker Scott Obituary (1918

Lettie Mary Parker Scott, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Jan. 13, 2010, with her loving family at her bedside. Born Aug. 24, 1918 in Crosbyton, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Leander James Parker and Daisy Neal Parker. She married the late Rev. Ralph Y. Scott in February of 1941 and joined him in his ministry as a devoted pastor's wife and helpmate for 65 years. Lettie served in many capacities in addition to be a pastor's wife and mother of five growing children during those years. Included in her responsibilities were church secretary, Sunday school teacher, youth choir director, and head cook for children's camps in Edinboro, PA. During the early years of Ralph and Lettie's ministries she compiled and typed the weekly church bulletin and conducted a weekly evangelism class in the basement of her home. Lettie was an excellent seamstress who made tailored clothes which included wedding gowns and attendants dresses. Her first employment away from home as a young girl she had learned to prepare meals for a growing family and through the years she became well known for her proficient culinary abilities and her friendly hospitality. For 25 years she held the position of dietary supervisor at Elmcrest Nursing Home, currently the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her home was always warmly inviting to many missionaries and visitors. In addition to cooking and sewing she enjoyed planting flowers and creating crafts for gifts. In addition to her husband, the Rev. Ralph Y. Scott who died on July 26, 2006, , and her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Landis and Isabelle Hague, and two brothers, Corporal James N. Parker and Alvin Parker. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Norma Jean and Jack Eddy, Ralph Jr. and Carol Scott, all of South Beaver Township, James and Cindy Scott, Aguanga, CA, Mary and Dan Agnew, Aurora, CO, John and Darlene Scott, Lakewood, CO, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Parker, Cresent, PA, a sister-in-law, Edith Scott, Edith Scott, Clarksburg, PA, 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Laurie and Tom Curry, Letricia and Steve Verosto, Jon and Jody Eddy, Dan Agnew, Chad and Alison Agnew, Radley and Melissa Agnew, Matthew, Jennifer, and Stephanie Scott, and Angela Boulds, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. George Brett, the nursing staff of Friendship Ridge 5 Main, and Good Samaritan Hospice nurses for their compassionate care of Lettie. The family also wishes to thank Rev. Jim Trusel and her many friends at the First Congregational Church.
