Rev. Joseph T. Brown Obituary (1934

Rev. Joseph T. Brown, 79 of Beaver Falls, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver. Affectionately known as J.T., he was born May 23, 1934, in Columbus, GA, he was the son of the late Mary Lou Davis and James M. Brown. J.T. was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Class of 1953. He then went on to join the United States Army, where he served in the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he worked for the railroad company prior to joining Babcock and Wilcox as a steelworker, where he later retired. He was a member of Beaver Falls American Legion Post 261 and a former member of the Elks Brighton Pioneer Lodge 219. He was also an active member of Wayman Chapel AME Church of New Brighton. He accepted the call into the ministry and became an ordained minister, serving as the church's local elder. He was an avid sports fan and faithful supporter of the Beaver Falls Tigers. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 56 years, Nancy Foster Brown; two infant children, Faith and Joseph; a grandson Jerrill; eight brothers and sisters, James Brown, Clara Goosby, Eleanor Hayes, Viola Brown, Luella Brown, Helen Whittington, Lillian Katie Brown and Frank Brown; two sisters in law, Eileen and Juanita Foster. He is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Jerome T. Sr. and Monique Brown, Harrisburg, PA and Kevin D. Brown, Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Angela Y. Hayden, Sewickley, PA; Taneasha R. (Sederic) Parchment, Tayania M. Brown, and Jerome T. Brown Jr., all of Harrisburg, PA.; two adopted grandchildren, Brandey L. Bess, Raleigh, NC and Adam D. Bess, Beaver Falls, PA; one great granddaughter, Tahirah Parchment; one sister, Edna Christine, San Francisco, CA; and a devoted nephew, Antoine (Sabrina) Whittington, Beaver Falls, PA; three brothers in law, William and Eric Foster, both of Harrisburg, PA and Leon Foster, Covina, CA; special friends, Rosetta Slappy, Joann Wilson, Loretta Jefferson and Ernestine Estelle; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Providence Care Center and Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Wayman Chapel AME Church, 1120 6th Avenue, New Brighton, PA. Funeral service will follow on Saturday at 10am. Rev. Samuel Chambers will officiate. Interment will follow at the Beaver Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Wayman Chapel AME.
