John Filby Jr.

John A. Filby Jr., 73, of Big Beaver, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, in Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.

Born on February 8, 1953, in Waynesburg, he was the son of the late John A. Sr. and Billie Jean (Bishop) Filby. John graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1971. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and played trumpet in the marching band. He was a member of the College Hill Presbyterian Church and was a wedding photographer. He was a chemical analyst at Armco Steel in Ambridge.

He was known to love dogs, wedding cookie tables (or any dessert), and his grandchildren.

John is survived by his daughter, Jill (Jeff) Moroski, of South Abington Twp., PA; son, John A. III (Alysha) Filby, of Beaver Falls, PA; five grandchildren, Paige and Ben Moroski, and Elisabeth, Margaret, and Catherine Filby; and sister, Barbara (Jimmy) Sneed, of New Castle, DE.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday October 10th from 10 AM until the time of service at 12 PM at the CORLESS-KUNSELMAN FUNERAL SERVICES, LLC 3801 4TH Avenue, College Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in John’s name to the Beaver County Humane Society- 3394 Brodhead Road Aliquippa, PA 15001.
